Participating in Campaigns

Here's how to find campaigns and submit your responses.

Most often, you'll receive a campaign link directly from the creator - via email, social media, or messaging.

#Links With Answers Pre-Selected

A link can carry answers, for example one prepared by an AI assistant: the voting page opens with those answers already selected and a yellow notice saying so. The answers travel in the part of the link after the #, which browsers never send to a server, and the page takes them out of the address bar once it has read them. Anyone can write such a link, so check every answer before you submit; nothing is sent until you do.

Created: Campaigns you've created
Participated: Campaigns you've responded to

#Groups Page

Campaigns for the members of your groups that you have not answered yet are listed on the Groups page under "Waiting for you", and on the Campaigns tab of each group.

#Submitting a Response

#Step 1: Open the Campaign

Click on a campaign link or select one from the Campaigns page.

Private campaigns need one more step:

Password campaigns: open the full link you received (the password is the part after #key=), or enter the password on the campaign page. The contract accepts your response only with a proof of the password, made in your browser for your own address
Address-list campaigns: sign in with an address that the creator put on the list
Campaigns for the members of a group: sign in with the account you joined the group with. You can participate if you were a member when the campaign was created, and had been one for at least its waiting period for new members. The line under the buttons says whether you can, and if not, why: for example, that you joined after the campaign was created. See Campaigns for Groups

If you already responded to a password campaign, you can reopen it later from any device by signing in with the same account, even without the password. The browser remembers a campaign password you entered while signed out only as long as the tab stays open; signed in, it keeps it for your account until you sign out.

#Step 2: Review the Questions

Read through all questions before answering. Note which are required vs optional.

#Step 3: Provide Your Answers

For each question:

Single choice: Click on your preferred option
Multiple choice: Click on all options that apply
Text input: Type your response in the text field

#Step 4: Submit

Click "Submit" when you're done. The note above the button tells you who will be able to read your answers.

If the creator edits the campaign or removes an address from its list while you are answering, the contract refuses the submission rather than record answers to questions you did not see. Nothing is recorded: reload the campaign and submit again.

If you signed in with Google, submitting is free: Logbook pays the gas fee. If you use a wallet, you confirm the transaction and pay a small gas fee yourself (test SUI is free during beta).

#Step 5: Confirmation

After submission, you'll see:

A confirmation message
The transaction ID (for verification)
A link to view current results

#Important Notes

#One Response Per Address

You can only submit one response per campaign from each blockchain address. This prevents duplicate voting but means you should be sure of your answers before submitting.

One address is not always one person: someone with two accounts has two addresses. A campaign for the members of a group can promise more, when the community of the group has a rule of who counts once, such as one response per seat on a list. The campaign page states the rule it was created with (see Who Counts Once).

#Immutable Responses

Once submitted, your response is permanent. It cannot be changed or deleted. Make sure you're happy with your answers before confirming.

#Response Privacy

The fact that your address responded, and when, is always public: it is visible in the Responses tab and to anyone who views the blockchain.

Who can read your answers depends on the campaign's "Answers visible to" setting:

Everyone: answers are stored in plaintext on-chain
Everyone with access, Voters only, Only creator, After the end date: answers are encrypted in your browser before they are sent; only the readers allowed by that setting can decrypt them. You can always read your own answer. The encrypted answer is bound to the campaign and to your address, so a copy submitted by someone else is recognized and never counted, and it is padded to a multiple of 256 bytes, so its size says little about what you chose.

What no setting does:

No setting is anonymous, and none is a secret ballot. Whoever reads your answers reads them next to your address. "After the end date" hides them only until the campaign ends; from then on everyone with access reads them, for good
Your address is a pseudonym, not a secret. It is the same in every campaign and group on Logbook. A response puts no name and no email on the blockchain, but the members and admins of a group you are in read your name on your member card, and for a Google account Mysten's sign-in service can tell which account the address belongs to (see Authentication)
The creator can run an AI analysis of the answers they can read, at any time. Those answers, written ones included, are then sent without addresses to an external AI provider (DeepSeek). See AI Analytics

The page says this above the Submit button, for the campaign in front of you. Privacy lists what is public, what is encrypted and what cannot be deleted; the Terms & Privacy page has the short version.

#Viewing Your Responses

After participating, you can:
